Fashion Post Monday: Holiday Windows Featuring the Peace Sign

Last Friday, after taking the girls to the Nutcracker (for the fourth year in the row--do they get sick of it? NO!), we walked all across town from Lincoln Center, hugging Central park (still dusted with snow), and went to an overflowing FAO Schwartz where the girls bought two Smurfs with holiday gift cards, and then before going home I swung them by Barney's, because more than the Nutcracker, we had to see their holiday windows this year, before the holidays faded away.

The theme this year was "Peace & Love: Have a Hippie Holiday." Now if that seems crass and cynical to you, please note that Madison Avenue began appropriating hippie signifiers to sell products in the late '60s, so get used to it. Love it. This year is the 50th anniversary of the venerable peace sign, and designers were apparently commissioned to use the peace sign as inspiration. Not a new idea, but you gotta love it.

I don't have any shots here really of the entire windows, but I hope you enjoy what I got. I was breathless, delirious with happiness while shooting these. Izzy and Maggie loved them, too, and that was the best part of it all.
